What Are SES Electrical Panel Upgrades?
Multi-unit properties and commercial buildings have SES (Service Entrance Section) electrical panels. The SES panel is the main hub where power from the utility company first enters the building. It's the large panel/cabinet — often mounted outside — that the power company connects to. From there, a licensed electrician distributes that power to each tenant or area as needed.
SES Electrical Panel Upgrades
Upgrading an SES isn’t just about adding more power. It’s about safety, code compliance, and ensuring the system can handle modern electrical demand. In Maricopa County and surrounding areas, SES installations must meet specific building code standards designed to protect the property from electrical hazards.

Here's what that includes:
-
Every cable that enters the panel must be properly secured and protected from damage.
-
Openings must be sealed to prevent pests or debris from getting into the electrical system.
-
For non-metallic electrical cables, special protective tubing (called a conduit or sleeve) may be used to route the wires safely into the back of the panel.
-
These sleeves must be short, straight, and installed correctly—sealed at both ends and anchored securely to prevent wear on the wires over time.

These rules are based on the National Electrical Code (NEC) and have been fully enforced in Arizona since 2005. A proper SES installation not only meets these requirements but ensures safe and reliable electrical service to all areas of your property.
